About the Scholarship
Clements Worldwide is pleased to announce the launch of its 9th annual Expat Youth Scholarship (EYS). Designed exclusively for students aged 13 to 21 experiencing life in foreign countries amidst unfamiliar cultures, the EYS contest is a testament to Clements’ ongoing commitment to the international expatriate community. Clements will award US$ 10,000.00 in scholarship funds to the winners.

Who is Eligible?
Students ages 13-21 of any nationality who have resided in a foreign country for at least six consecutive months. To qualify for the “Ages 13-16” category, you must be aged between 13-16 (born between 2001 and 2004). To qualify for the “Ages 17-21” category, you must be aged 17-21 (born between 1996 and 2000). 

Entry Requirements
For this year's Scholarship, we are asking expat students to take a photo visually capturing how you will use your experience living abroad to make a difference in the world, and write an accompanying short essay. To participate and have a chance at winning a scholarship, eligible contestants should complete the form to submit your entry. Once you enter, your photo will be reviewed. Judging Criteria  
We will judge both the image and the essay. Criteria will be:
1. Creativity and ablitiy to represent theme
2. Connectivity between essay and photo 
3. Correct use of grammar and style

Clements Worldwide's Expat Youth Scholarship gives expat youth an opportunity to share their experiences and compete for scholarships worth up to $3,000. Clements is awarding a total of $10,000 in scholarships to six students in the following categories:

Ages 13-16

  • First Place- $3,000
  • Second Place- $1,500
  • Third Place- $500

Ages 17-21

  • First Place- $3,000
  • Second Place- $1,500
  • Third Place- $500

1. Does it matter if the time I spent living outside my home country wasn't consecutive (i.e. in a row)?
Yes, you’re only eligible to apply if you have spent at least one consecutive year living outside your home country.

 2. I will not have spent at least one consecutive year abroad until after the scholarship deadline. Am I eligible to apply?
No, you must have lived abroad for at least one consecutive year as of the date you submit your entry.

3. What is considered my home country?
Your home country is the country of your passport. If you have more than one passport, we consider both countries your home country. 

4. Can I apply if I’m now back in my home country after living abroad?
Yes - if you have lived outside of your home country for more than one consecutive year. 

5. Do I have to be a U.S. Citizen to apply?
No, full-time students of any nationality are encouraged to apply.

6. In order to apply for your scholarship, I must be 13-21 years old. What if I don't fall within the age range by the deadline?
As long as you’re 13-21 years old at the time you submit your entry, you’re still eligible to apply.

7. Is the scholarship designated for a specific use or institution?
No, the scholarship will be issued to you to use however you choose.
