Keeping Your Family Safe & Healthy This Summer

This summer the U.S. State Department has released travel alerts for U.S. citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, as well as a series of alerts and warnings across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. As if that was not enough, the former Director-General of the WHO said in a recent report, "We are standing on the brink of a global crisis in infectious diseases -- no country is safe from them."

Despite these risks, people are traveling and living abroad in record numbers and we are proud to support the dreams of these adventurers.

So travel, but stay safe.  This edition of GlobalInsight will highlight hot spots resulting from local elections that could spark protests and countries with tropical disease outbreaks, so you can be better prepared for all your adventures this summer.

Which Tropical Disease Outbreaks You Need to Monitor

By now Zika almost feels like a household world with new cases popping up in many developed countries.  Did you know that there are new outbreaks of Tuberculosis, Yellow Fever, and Leishmaniasis that may extend to popular tourist areas?  Educate yourself on where outbreaks are occurring and make sure to vaccinate yourself and your family.

Local Elections Historically Create Civil Unrest
You may want to avoid some areas that are in the midst of heated election seasons.   There have been numerous examples over recent years of tourists and expatriates getting hurt when they walk into the middle of a protest over local politics.
